What a visit looks like
What we do
Your therapist looks at how you stand, walk and climb, treats stiff areas by hand and builds strength and control with exercises you can repeat at home.
What decides how many visits
What your therapist finds, what your physician's plan says, what you need to be able to do again and how you respond. Your therapist talks it through with you.
Who treats you
A physical therapist, and sometimes a physical therapist assistant under their direction. Your first visit is about an hour.
Meet the teamHow it is paid for
Most patients use insurance, and some pay themselves. The front desk checks your benefits before your first visit.
How fees work
- Chest pain, trouble breathing, a sudden severe headache or pain, new weakness or numbness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or a fall with a head injury needs emergency care now. Call 911.
Questions about this care
Should I have therapy before a joint replacement?
Your surgeon decides. If it helps, your therapist gets you moving and strong before surgery and talks with the surgeon's office.
Can I use a cane or walker?
Yes. Your therapist helps you choose and fit one if you need it.
Book a first visit
Tell your therapist what is bothering you in your own words when you come in. The form does not ask for it.
